We all love playing bingo and we all get different things out of it. For some people it is just about the money and the chance to improve their life. For other people it is more about the fun and the community; a chance to make friends with like minded people. Crown Bingo is one of the few bingo sites that think about more about profit and prizes. Each month players can mail in their ideas for a charitable cause to be supported. One of these good causes is then chosen to be the charity of the month. In the past the beneficiaries of this good will have included:
The Variety Club – on Valentines Day
Crown Bingo raised a superb £433. The Variety club has been helping sick, disabled and disadvantaged children by providing Sunshine Coaches, electric wheelchairs and outings to exciting places
Cancer Research – On the 26th march £340 was raised by Crown Bingo to help the UK’s leading charity who carry out world-class research to improve understanding of cancer and find out how to prevent, diagnose and treat different kinds of cancer.
St Oswald’s Hospice – In April £268 was raised for St Oswald’s provides hospice which provided care for adults and children. Situated in Gosforth they follow a holistic approach that aims to address not just physical symptoms, but also spiritual and emotional needs too.
Bliss – In May it was the turn of Bliss the baby care charity who provide vital support and care to premature and sick babies in the UK as well as ground-breaking research and campaign for babies to receive the best possible level of care regardless of when and where they are born. Players raised £200 from taking part in a knit-a-thon as well as £224 from their 50% staked match.
Junes chosen charity is Orchid which exists to save men’s lives from testicular, prostate and penile cancers through pioneering research and promoting awareness. Make sure you do your bit and join in the fun this Monday (the 23rd) in room 2 between 7pm and 9pm; you could also win one of Orchid’s “checked out” pins that will be on offer throughout the day.
